Executive Director reflects on a year filled with joy and challenges

As I reflect on 2024, growth stands out above all else. We witnessed amazing transformations as families discovered their strength, children found stability, and parents rebuilt their lives.

Within our House, families formed stronger bonds creating a network of support. The impact of the community’s genersoity extended beyond our walls, as partnerships emerged and dedicated volunteers stepped forward to help in unprecedented ways.

Despite ongoing affordable housing challenges, Freedom House Ministries adapted and strengthened our services to meet families’ evolving needs. Guided by our new vision to foster a thriving shelter environment that will disrupt a family’s trajectory of homelessness forever, we remain committed to creating lasting change for every family we serve.

Thank you for supporting Freedom House.

With faith and gratitude,

Jennifer Schmohe, Executive Director

Rebuilding family bonds

One month shattered Jason’s family. After a diagnosis of early- stage kidney failure, he learned his position would be eliminated in his company’s downsizing. When his landlord announced a rent increase, Jason’s carefully balanced world unraveled completely. Mounting medical bills, job loss, and unaffordable rent led to eviction, forcing him to live in his vehicle for three months while his two sons stayed with their mother. At Freedom House, Jason found hope and support. Through financial literacy programs and workforce coaching, he secured employment at a local printing company, paid off medical debt, and most importantly, rebuilt trust with his ex-wife and sons. Today, his family bond is stronger than ever.

Year In Review

In 2024, our leadership team undertook the transformative task of refining the mission, vision, and values of Freedom House Ministries. Through months of thoughtful collaboration and strategic planning, we established a foundation built on love, growth, dignity, community, and trust. These guiding principles shape every interaction and decision, whether working with families experiencing homelessness, engaging with our dedicated volunteers, or partnering with our generous donors.

During 2024 our remarkable network of more than 800 active donors and 132 volunteers and groups dedicated their resources and time to disrupting the cycle of homelessness families experience forever. The year culminated in a celebration of success as seven families transitioned into their new homes during December, marking a hopeful end to 2024.

We are grateful to each of the donors for their contributions! We are honored and blessed to serve God through this ministry of hope and renewal.

God bless you all!
