Position: Finance Assistant
Reports to: Human Resource/Finance Coordinator
Location: 2997 Saint Anthony Drive, Green Bay WI
Overview: Freedom House Ministries, a faith-based nonprofit organization with a $1.4 million annual budget, seeks a detail-oriented and organized Finance Assistant. Reporting directly to the Finance Coordinator, this role supports the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping. The Finance Assistant will work onsite, contributing to the mission of providing shelter and dignity to families experiencing homelessness.
Responsibilities:

Financial Record Maintenance
-
Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.

Enter financial transactions into accounting software with precision.

Support the Finance Coordinator with reconciling bank statements and other financial documents.

Budget Tracking and Reporting
-
Support the Finance Coordinator in monitoring budgets and preparing financial reports.

Help ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.

Human Resources Support

Assist in maintaining confidential personnel records.

Support HR functions such as verifying employee timesheets and processing payroll information.

Coordinate onboarding documentation for new hires.

Administrative Support

Organize and file financial and personnel documents, including invoices, receipts, contracts, and HR records.

Provide administrative assistance for financial audits, HR compliance, and other reviews.

Collaboration and Communication
-
Work closely with the Finance Coordinator to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure seamless financial and HR operations.

Confidentiality and Discretion

Manage sensitive financial and personal information with utmost confidentiality and professionalism.

Ensure compliance with privacy policies and ethical standards.

Other Responsibilities

Assist with special financial and HR projects as needed.

Uphold the organization’s mission and values in all work activities.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, HR, or finance-related roles. Nonprofit experience is a plus.
Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Important level of accuracy and attention to detail.
