Position: Finance Assistant
Reports to: Human Resource/Finance Coordinator
Location: 2997 Saint Anthony Drive, Green Bay WI

Overview: Freedom House Ministries, a faith-based nonprofit organization with a $1.4 million annual budget, seeks a detail-oriented and organized Finance Assistant. Reporting directly to the Finance Coordinator, this role supports the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping. The Finance Assistant will work onsite, contributing to the mission of providing shelter and dignity to families experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Record Maintenance

  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.

  • Enter financial transactions into accounting software with precision.

  • Support the Finance Coordinator with reconciling bank statements and other financial documents.

     

  • Budget Tracking and Reporting

  • Support the Finance Coordinator in monitoring budgets and preparing financial reports.

  • Help ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.

     

  • Human Resources Support

  • Assist in maintaining confidential personnel records.

  • Support HR functions such as verifying employee timesheets and processing payroll information.

  • Coordinate onboarding documentation for new hires.

     

  • Administrative Support

  • Organize and file financial and personnel documents, including invoices, receipts, contracts, and HR records.

  • Provide administrative assistance for financial audits, HR compliance, and other reviews.

     

  • Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with the Finance Coordinator to identify and resolve discrepancies.

  • Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure seamless financial and HR operations.

     

  • Confidentiality and Discretion

  • Manage sensitive financial and personal information with utmost confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies and ethical standards.

     

  • Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with special financial and HR projects as needed.

  • Uphold the organization’s mission and values in all work activities.

     

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or related field preferred.

     

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, HR, or finance-related roles. Nonprofit experience is a plus.

     

Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Important level of accuracy and attention to detail.
